CEO Replaced in Verisign Domain Company

Stratton Sclavos, the CEO at Verisign, has been replaced. His position is to be taken over by a member of the Board of Directors, William Roper Jr.

Verisign - who are the domain name registry for .com - have not given any reasons for his resignation and have declined to comment on the subject. Various sources suggest that there were intractable disagreements with the board. Directors were also reported to be looking to cut costs and improve profits. There are also rumours of Sclavos pulling out due to disagreements over shareholder arrangements and acquisition strategies.
