VeriSign Downsizes
Giant Internet firm VeriSign is planning to scrap some of its many peripheral offerings in favour of focusing more on its biggest earners.
VeriSign is one of the biggest players in the Internet sector. It perhaps best known for its role as the official registry for .com and .net Domain Names, and also for security in online transactions. However, it is also involved in offering voice-over-Internet-protocol (VoIP), supply chain consulting, mobile phone banking, and many other products and services.
Various divisions of the company will be sold off, although VeriSign representatives are reluctant to name prices. The company will continue to manage the registry for the .com and .net TLDs, and also accrediting the transaction processes of ecommerce stores.
