Swedish Domain Names

.SE have announced that the registration of domain names in minority languages is now available (as per Swedish law). The company is responsible for the Internet Country Code. Languages such as Finnish, Meänkieli, Sami, Romani and Yiddish can be used as well as characters from other Nordic countries, e.g. Danish, Norwegian, Faroe and Icelandic, in .se domains. These Internationalised Domain Names will have a sunrise period starting July 4 2007.

å, ä, ö, ü and é have been available from 2003 but in 2007 there are over 70 000 IDN domains registered at .SE with potential for another 200 characters to be added.
