Richard Haigh, owner of £.com is expecting to reach more than £1 million when his rare domain name goes to auction today.

One of only two domain names in the world with a single symbol - the other with a euro - Richard, from Nottingham, UK, commented "whatever happens at the auction, its sale will change my life for ever."

Bought nine years ago, traditionally domains are only allowed to use certain characters from the US Ascii character set, with a hyphen being the only special character.

Earlier this month the domain name, www.pizza.com sold for over $2 million.
