PIR names Alexa Raad as CEO

The Public Interest Registry (PIR) in RESTON Va. has to announced the appointment of entrepreneurial technology executive Alexa A. S. Raad as its new CEO, effective as of July 9, 2007.

Ms. Raad has more than 20 years of experience from the telecommunications, payment, and Internet sectors. While working as chief marketing officer at dotMobi, an Ireland-based joint venture company, she was instrumental in the start-up of the company, and a key figure in making .mobi one of the most successful TLD launches. Ms. Raad had direct responsibility for major functional areas of the company, including marketing and public relations, channel sales, product development and rollout, and policy.

Previous to her tenure at dotMobi on the domain name launch, Ms. Raad held the position of senior business development manager at VeriSign in Dulles, Virginia, where she developed new markets and channels for RFID and supply chain and logistics-related technologies as well as for Internationalized Domain Names.

Ms. Raad, a frequent speaker on technology and marketing issues, has a Master degree in business administration and a Master degree in information systems from George Washington University. She is multilingual, speaking Farsi, German, French, and Italian.
