According to the Anti-phishing Working Group there was a huge increase in phishing domains in recent months. In the period from March to April these almost tripled. Computer World compiled a report where the number of unique sites increased from 20, 871 (March) up to 55, 643 (April) – a rise of 166%. In late 2006 a new tactic was devised for criminals regarding browser-based anti-phishing filters. In this method domains aren’t registered, instead unique URLs are used to set up new addresses.
