dotMobi, the official worldwide registry for the .mobi domain, have announced the appointment of James Pearce as Vice President of Technology. In his new role, Pearce will be working closely with standards bodies and the development community to lead dotMobi’s developer initiatives.

Pearce brings over a decade’s experience in the mobile technology sector to dotMobi, where he will be focusing on equipping developers with useful information and tools to enable them to create quality mobile Internet sites with ease. Additionally, Pearce will be responsible for dotMobi product and technology roadmaps, as well as Domain Name technologies, content tools, the company’s developer community and applicable open standards.

His work will support the continued growth of quality mobile content by providing the developer community with tools they need to build a faster and more reliable mobile Internet experience."

Before coming to dotMobi, Pearce was CTO at Argogroup, who specialise in optimising the experience for users of mobile and converged applications, and previous to Argogroup, Pearce was situated at AnywhereYouGo.com — a top destination for mobile developers — where he launched the Wireless Internet Lab, a professional services environment that allowed mobile developers to test and validate their mobile applications before they were launched. While he was at AnywhereYouGo.com, Pearce worked closely with The World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) developing interoperable technologies (specifications, guidelines, software and tools) to help lead the Web to reach its full potential.

Pearce holds a Masters degree with Honors in Physics from the University of Oxford.
