New Registrants for Cowboys.com
Last week saw embarrassment for American Football team the Dallas Cowboys, whose attorney ashamedly handed back the domain name Cowboys.com after bidding $275,000 for it in a Moniker.com auction. The attorney had thought he was to pay just $275 for the domain. The team was heavily criticised by fans and domainers alike for passing up the opportunity to own such a valuable and brand-friendly domain name for what was actually a relatively low price.
The Cowboys will no doubt be kicking themselves even more this week, as a group of domain name investors, led by domainer Eric Rice, bought the domain for $370,000 in a second auction. Rice intends to use the domain for a website with country and western themes.
