London Domain
London could potentially have their own domain name. It would be possible to enhance finance, media, the arts, retail, sport and fashion with the claim. Web addresses can explain the business, organisation or person owning the site.
The ccTLD (country code top level domain names) are the last section in a web address and used by countries (e.g. .jp for Japan, .au for Australia, .fr for France). Using ".ldn" it may be plausible for London to have its own Top Level Domain (and may even hold greater appeal to Londoners).
The EU got their own domain name last year (.eu). They have received over 2.5 million registrations using this name which makes it one of the fastest growing Domain Names ever. Organisations with pan-European interests and the European Union’s website (www.europa.eu) have found the new domain very useful.
The domain would help further the London "brand" although on the other hand may bridge gaps between London and the rest of England (potentially things could get to the extreme of every street having their own Domain Name).
