ICANN San Juan 2007 - Update
ICANN’s 29th international meeting was underway this week in Puerto Rico. Subjects to be discussed include Internationalised Domain Names, new TLDs, transparency and IPv6. Associated Press and IDG have given the event major coverage.
ICANN’s 29th international meeting was underway this week in Puerto Rico. Subjects to be discussed include Internationalised Domain Names, new TLDs, transparency and IPv6. Associated Press and IDG have given the event major coverage.
There will be discussions about the US Government through the MoU and the Department of Commerce. Some are willing for the ties with the US government to be broken down.
Burke Hansen commented on ICANN’s more user-friendly site and on the positive movement from IPv4 to IPv6 (the new system being able to accommodate 430 trillion, trillion, trillion different addresses). Cerf referred to proliferating devices connected to the internet (blackberries, household appliances, etc).
