The budgeting operation plan and framework heads the operational planning process for ICANN, giving the industry a first hand look at the planned work and related costs for the fiscal year 2009.

The approach to planning this year moves forward the date when the information is available to the community and so extends the period of review. This meaning that the community has a larger opportunity to provide input and so help mould the 2009 fiscal years budget.

Some of the new characteristics of this years approach to planning include

• A review of the operating plan activities and the anticipated expenses concurrently (previously done separately)
• A three year budget model for ICANN to put the 2009 fiscal year into greater perspective. The three year budget model will highlight the great need to reach a decision on many of the issues/ questions yet to be addressed for the new gTLDs.
• Structured presentations of the operating plan activities that make it able for summarization whilst still providing adequate details in which the community members have a specific interest.

The initial operating plan and budget framework will be reviewed in a public workshop in Delhi that starts off a five month long consultation with the community leading to the anticipated adoption of the budget by the ICANN board in June
