ICANN Introduces Escrow Backup

ICANN has set up an escrow service to protect domain registrants. Secure backups of all Domain Registration details will be kept, so that, if a registrar’s accreditation agreement is terminated, or the registrar goes out of business, registrants’ domain ownership remains secure and they will continue to have access to the management controls for their domains.

Iron Mountain Digital, the world’s leading software provider, is the company that has been selected to provide the escrow service. Over 90 million Domain Names will be protected by the new system.
