Domain parking service Sedo confirmed recently that they have closed the deal on the most valuable .info Domain Name sold so far. Travel.info sold for USD$116,000, topping previous record holder newspaper.info, which sold for about USD$18,500. Whilst .com domain prices are reaching record heights, the domain market is seeing many speculators and business owners opting for secondary top-level domains in order to secure a short or generic term.

"As the 6th largest TLD on the Internet today, .INFO has become a natural place on the Internet to both place and find information about important subjects, like travel," said Roland LaPlante, vice president and chief marketing officer for Afilias, the registry for .INFO Domains. "The record setting sale of travel.info highlights the value of .INFO as the go-to TLD for information and underscores its increasing prominence in the global domain market."
