The German Internet Industry awarded dotBerlin GMbH & Co. KG at the eco Internet Awards. DotBerlin intended to create a new ending for domains (.Berlin) in order to create an identity for people in that city. Other major cities such as New York and Paris have followed in their footsteps.

Nearly 200 companies competed for awards awarded by the Association of the German Internet Industry - eco. The award has been won in previous years by iTunes and openBC/Xing.com. Awards are given to organisations who have given a major contribution to the German Internet Industry.
