.cm Domain recommences Landrush & delays Go-Live further

In a surprise move, the .cm registry has re-opened the Landrush domain registration period, allowing further applicants to register Landrush .cm domains until 23rd August 2009 @ 23:59:59 UTC. In the same statement, they have now confirmed resolution of their prior technical issues and determined the Open Registration start date as 00:00:01 UTC on 27th August 2009.

The registry state closing date confusion amongst registrars as the reason for extending Landrush. They are not permitting any cancellations during this period, only additions. Auctions for multiple Landrush applicants are expected to commence 28th August 2009.

Pete Osmond, Product Manager, Domainmonster.com, commented, "We are delighted that the .cm registry has now made their intentions transparent." Commenting further he said, "Although Landrush has been re-opened, we felt the prior dates were clear and intended applications placed. We therefore don’t expect to add many further applications to the pool as a result of this extension".

The .cm domain name launch has been incredibly popular due to the Direct Navigation said to account for 1 in 6 visitors to a web site. .cm is an incredibly close spelling to .com, the world’s largest top level domain. Direct Navigation traffic is reputed to convert at twice that delivered via a search engine.

Domainmonster.com has re-commenced submission of Landrush applications and pre-orders for Open registration as a result of this announcement. Existing Pre-orders placed with Domainmonster.com for Open Registration will be held over to the revised launch date and users do not need to contact Domainmonster.com to ensure their submission is safe.
