Domainmonster.com supports public availability of the .asia domain extension
Domainmonster.com today announced their support for the .asia Landrush period beginning 20th February 2008, with backorders already available, way ahead of its competitors.
The first publicly available stage of the .asia release, the Landrush period is sure to see the .asia domain extension be the first TLD (Top level Domain), to rival the world dominant .com extension.
Matt Mansell, Managing Director at Mesh Digital Ltd, owners of the Domainmonster.com brand, commented, “60% of the world’s population live in the ICANN defined .asia region. It’s widely predicted that China’s Internet market alone will exceed that of the USA, by 2010. With such an enormous market, we are confident this launch will be the first to rival the .com and certainly exceed the recent .mobi and .eu TLD launches.”
During the Landrush period, commencing 20th February 2008 and ending 12th March 2008, all consumers are invited to register their chosen domains. If more than one application is made for a single Domain Name, the DotAsia registry operator has determined that an auction shall take place using the auction site pool.com. The domain name will simply then sell to the highest bidder. If there is only one applicant, the domain name is the consumers to keep on the 12th March 2008 and their registration will be live across the web.
The DotAsia registry will commence normal registrations at the “Go-Live” stage on the 26th March 2008, when domains will be available on a first come, first served basis. Domainmonster.com will support backorders for “Go-Live” immediately after Landrush completes, although they anticipate those serious about .asia will of already secured the most prominent stages during the auction Landrush period.
