Country Domain Name Russia.com Sells For A Crazy $1.5 Million
The domain name Russia.com has been bought by an undisclosed buyer for an eye-popping $1.5 million dollars.
The sale was carried out at auction site Sedo.com and it looks like the hefty price tag was well worth the money, with Russia.com having 8,723 unique visitors per month and a SEO score of 95%.
The company selling the domain is NewMedia Holdings – who is no stranger to the country geo domain space. The Russia.com site is currently an online guide for travellers who are thinking about visiting the country but is managed by Paley Media, a consultancy firm that also runs other country name domains including Algeria.com, Scotland.com, Nepal.com and Ukraine.com.
New Media Holdings also registered a number of desirable and high-value domains back in May 1995 including Airplanes.com, AutoRacing.com, Birds.com, HorseRacing.com, Musicians.com and StockMarkets.com.
It looks like values of .com domains may be rising again, insurance broker insure.com just sold its name and corresponding website for a whopping $16 million last month.
